Do you consider an annual checkup important for your cat? Not everyone does. A recent poll conducted by cat litter manufacturer "Feline Pine" indicated that only 47 percent of respondents schedule annual checkups for their cats. Another 35 percent only visit the vet when their cat is ill.

While these figures are not bad, they aren’t good enough, according to Dr. Michele Gaspar, a leading national feline specialist. That’s why she is a partner in the new national “Take Your Cat to the Vet Day” campaign launched by Feline Pine to educate cat owners about the importance of an annual checkup for their feline companions. The campaign, which also has the support of the University of Illinois Chicago Center for Veterinary Medicine, officially kicks off on August 22. As part of the campaign, cat owners can register on the Feline Pine site to receive an annual reminder to schedule a vet appointment for their cat.
